Welcome to English County flags.

We aim to give information and news about the county flags of England.

English counties have been around in different forms for over a thousand years, often called different names and often with shifting borders. Some such as Essex even started life as Kingdoms.

County flags have become popular in recent years as interest in flags in England  has grown. Usually flags are seen when there is a major football tournament, but more and more they can be seen flying throughout the year.

Most county flags have an historical influence usually from a particular coat of arms, whilst some others are modern. Lincolnshire's flag for example is the result is the result of a radio competition to design a flag for the county.

I am not setting myself up as an expert and would welcome any input from people, especially proud natives of the counties shown!
